Strategic Purchasing Analyst

The Strategic Purchasing Analyst works to help transform Clark’s approach to the purchasing of indirect spend each year. The person in this role will help ensure Clark is strategically selecting vendors, negotiating pricing, and procuring commodities at the right time for the right cost across all regions.


  • Meet with Company Divisions regularly to discuss areas of opportunity, upcoming purchasing volume, unique needs, and establish partnerships

  • Understand and anticipate Jobsite purchasing needs

  • Work with Division Superintendents to become educated on specific goods and services unique to their line of work

  • Evaluate vendors per category of spend

  • Negotiate agreements which benefit the Company in the form of rebates, volume discounts, and early pay discounts

  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance to terms of contracts

  • Analyze trends in spend by category and report findings to Management

  • Review utilization of Purchase Orders and Contracts across the Company to identify areas of compliance leakage

  • Create daily reports to monitor Purchasing processes

  • Provide excellent customer service to the Jobsites to reduce inefficiencies. This may include:

  • entering and reviewing requisitions for goods or services

  • confirming delivery dates and locations

  • checking on order statuses

  • coordinating emergency requests

  • Promote an open channel for feedback between Jobsites, Accounts Payable, and Management

  • Establish and manage processes for commodity purchases

  • Abide by and enforce Company Purchasing and Ethics Policy

  • Develop innovative ways to improve purchasing and reduce spend on Jobsites in partnership with Company Divisions

  • Establish pilot programs and Lunch & Learns to improve education surrounding Strategic Purchasing’s role within the organization

  • Assist in leading Company-wide training on purchasing system and policy


  • Bachelor’s degree required, studies in Supply Chain or Operations Management a plus

  • 3 years of procurement experience managing commodities, Construction specific a plus

  • Experience with cloud-based SaaS systems

  • Experience with SAP a plus

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office environment possessing advanced Excel skills

  • Ability to analyze large data sets and present findings

  • Data driven decision making skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Creative, self-disciplined, and capable of identifying and completing critical tasks independently and with a sense of urgency in a high-stress and fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively toward a future vision

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to travel (5-10% of time) to regional sites
